How do I print labels on continuous thermal rolls from the OpenLabel app?

To print labels on continuous thermal rolls using the OpenLabel app, follow these steps:

  1. Turn ON the printer.
  2. Press the Power button 3 times to switch the printer to Receipt Mode.
  3. Once the mode is changed, the printer will print a confirmation and turn OFF automatically.
  4. Turn the printer ON again.
  5. Press the paper feed button 3 times to switch to Strong Mode.
  6. Download and open the OpenLabel app.
  7. Tap the Printer icon on the right side.
  8. Select your printer name from the list.
  9. Tap Switch and choose ESC1 mode.
  10. Connect the printer.
  11. Tap Create to design your label.
  12. Before printing, make sure the Paper Type is selected as Continuous.
  13. Then tap Print.

Important Note

For continuous thermal rolls:

  • Use Receipt Mode
  • In OpenLabel, select ESC1 mode
  • Set Paper Type = Continuous before printing

Why this setting is important

The DEV documentation also notes that:

  • ESC / ESC(POS) is used for continuous paper
  • CPCL is mainly for gap / black mark labels
  • TSPL is used for density control and high-quality layout printing
