How do I print labels on continuous thermal rolls from the OpenLabel app?
To print labels on continuous thermal rolls using the OpenLabel app, follow these steps:
- Turn ON the printer.
- Press the Power button 3 times to switch the printer to Receipt Mode.
- Once the mode is changed, the printer will print a confirmation and turn OFF automatically.
- Turn the printer ON again.
- Press the paper feed button 3 times to switch to Strong Mode.
- Download and open the OpenLabel app.
- Tap the Printer icon on the right side.
- Select your printer name from the list.
- Tap Switch and choose ESC1 mode.
- Connect the printer.
- Tap Create to design your label.
- Before printing, make sure the Paper Type is selected as Continuous.
- Then tap Print.
Important Note
For continuous thermal rolls:
- Use Receipt Mode
- In OpenLabel, select ESC1 mode
- Set Paper Type = Continuous before printing
Why this setting is important
The DEV documentation also notes that:
- ESC / ESC(POS) is used for continuous paper
- CPCL is mainly for gap / black mark labels
- TSPL is used for density control and high-quality layout printing
